Minnesota Tour (Stop 1) on April 22nd – 27th in Sandstone, Minnesota

The idea for our first tour of the year started with a call from Jim Best, Commander of the Disabled American Veterans (chapter 4) way back in August of last year. Details were soon made and the start of our three stop tour started on April 22nd, with a six day stop in Sandstone, Minnesota at the Sandstone Artist’s Center. The hundreds that made their way to the center to view the memorial were also welcomed by a separate display that pays honor to Minnesota’s fallen. Within the six days of this initial stop, there were dozens of special moments that the Eyes of Freedom team will never forget. For example, Brian Zimmerman, a Persian Gulf Army veteran, was so moved by what he saw, he gave his Kuwait Liberation Medal to the Eyes of Freedom so it could travel with the exhibit. It is truly an honor to have this travel with us.
